Raymond Lee Gorham, Sr.

March 17, 1947 — March 4, 2023

Beltsville

Ray Gorham, beloved husband of Carol Gorham, and beloved father of R.J. and Maddy Gorham, left this earth after a long struggle with illness on March 4, 2023. He also leaves behind several siblings as well as nephews, nieces, and many friends. Ray was born on St. Patrick’s Day in 1947 and spent the last 34 years in Beltsville, MD. As a veteran of the Vietnam War, Ray was a loyal member of the American Legion and a supporter of many Veteran organizations. He retired from AT&T/Lucent after 45 years. While he was there he provided communications support to Capitol Hill, White House, and the Pentagon. Known to many who knew him as a warm, friendly guy, he will be remembered for his friendship and humor. He shared his avid love of watching sports with his family, especially the UMD basketball team, football, and wrestling. He was a loving husband, father, and friend who will be dearly missed. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Wounded Warriors, or to plant a tree to revive the earth.
