On Monday, June 27, 2022, Regalado M. Chavez, loving husband and father of five children, passed away at age 84.
Regalado was born on May 13, 1938, in Cuenca, Batangas, Philippines to Marcelo and Juana Chavez. He received his Bachelors of Science in Education from Far Eastern University and continued his professional career serving as District Leader for the Seventh Day Adventist church in Takoma Park, MD, and also served as City Councilman for Takoma Park, MD, and finally retiring as a Fire Inspector for the Prince Georges County. On May 28, 1961, he married Lydia E. Chavez. They raised four sons, Johnathan, Eldred, Jerson, and Lester, and one daughter, Relyd.
Regalado had several passions, including, tennis, golf, gardening, serving the church and his local community, and most importantly providing for his family. He also loved to travel back and forth from the US to the Philippines, where he and his wife build a home, they called The Avalon. He also enjoyed singing karoke to his favorite songs, which included, "Delilah", "Release me", and "Moon River". His love for tennis encouraged all his kids to enjoy the game. Also, his love of politics and serving the community was evident as a four term City Councilmen serving Ward 6 of Takoma Park. His love for the church was evident in co-founding a church in his home town in the Philippines and also the Fil-AM Captial Seventh-day-Adventist in Beltsville, MD. He was known for his quick wit (jokes), cooking calderta (filipino dish), his infectious smile, and his kind and and open arms inviting others to his home.
He is survived by his wife Lydia E. Chavez, his five children, Relyd, Johnathan, Eldred, Jerson, and Lester, and his grandchildren, Victoria, Alexandra, Jasmine and Ella.
