Regina Camarano Robinson August 17, 1957 – September 7, 2023
Born, in Bethesda Maryland, on August 17, 1957, Regina Mary Camarano entered this world full of love, strength, wit, intelligence, talent, and passion. The fifth of eight children and second daughter of the pre-deceased Anthony and Barbara Camarano, Regina was raised in Wheaton and Rockville Maryland and was a 1975 graduate of Robert E. Peary High School in Rockville.
Regina earned her bachelor’s and Master’s Equivalency degrees in Education from the University of Maryland. She worked for over 25 years in the Montgomery County Public School System and spent her entire career teaching the Severe and Profound Disabled school population at Stephen Knolls School in Wheaton. Regina’s love for her students had her creating outings and opportunities for her students and offering her services as a caregiver to her students as a means of offering respite care for their families.
Regina’s first love was horses. As a young girl, she would use her talent for drawing by spending hours drawing her beloved horses. She was able to achieve two of her goals by owning her horse, Irish Mist, and by watching the Assateague Pony Parade in Assateague, Maryland. Her love of horses was eclipsed by the love she had for her husband, Charles Robinson, Jr. Well know family lore states that Regina and Charlie met when they were 10 and 12 at Camp Glyndon, a summer camp run for children and teens with type 1 diabetes. The two were able to reconnect after college at a Camp reunion and were inseparable till Regina’s last day. The two married on June 21, 1988 and were able to share 35 years as man and wife.
Passionate was a great word to describe Regina. In addition to being passionate about her students, Regina had a great love of music both in singing and in curating an incredible and wide range of music that she enjoyed listening to. She was also passionate about her love of friends and family who all can recall a story of kindness, gentleness, and thoughtfulness.
She leaves behind her beloved Charlie, and her brothers and sisters: Michael (Lorraine), Carol, Joseph (Marla), Loretta (Stan), Maria (Rick), and John (Leslie). She is predeceased by her brother Philip and her niece Christina. She was an aunt to 10 nieces and nephews and 5 great nieces and nephews.
