Robert Winston Bell of Clarksville, MD, formerly of College Park, MD 1956-2023

After a brief illness Bob Bell passed away on April 20, 2023. He was the younger son of the late Joseph Earl and Elizabeth Mildred Bell. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Janice Bell, his brother Douglas Bell (Judi) of Haleyville, Alabama, his parents-in-law, Charles and Annette Jones of High Springs, Florida, his brother-in-laws Charles Jones of Hudson, Florida and Thomas Jones (Karen) of Westminster; his longtime business partner Jeff Waterfield, and a cherished uncle to several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Bob was a 1974 graduate of Parkdale High School in Riverdale Park, Maryland. He was the President and one of the founding partners of Metropolitan Rolling Door, Inc. from 1980 to 2022, beginning his career in 1974 in the door industry. Bob was well respected by all manufacturers with whom he had dealings and led the company through decades of success. He was a legend and icon within the industry.

Bob was a past President and life member of the Branchville Volunteer Fire Company and Rescue Squad, Inc. with his membership beginning in 1972. Under his leadership he greatly helped the fundraising efforts and purchasing of new apparatus. The positive impacts are still felt today. He was a member and Past Master of the St. Alban Birmingham Masonic Lodge #223 in Beltsville, MD.

Bob was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and deep sea fishing around the world. Has had a great love of literature, especially anything about the World War II era. He was a wealth of knowledge with an unforgettable sense of humor.

Most importantly he cherished his wife and their relationship, and she was always foremost in his thinking.

Active pallbearers are Jeff Waterfield, James Woodhouse, Michael Varney, Thomas Jones, Charles Jones, and Gregory Addison. Honorary pallbearers are Dana Burrier, Charles Wellman, and Steven Leadbetter.
