Berwyn Heights

Robert “Bob” Denny Dorsey our beloved husband, father, grandfather passed away peacefully after his battle with cancer on May 28, 2023 at the age of 76.

Bob was born in Nacogdoches, Texas on September 14, 1946. He was the first child of Robert and Inez Dorsey. Bob was a resident of Berwyn Heights, MD. He was one of life’s natural leaders who inspired his family and co-workers to excel in their endeavors. Throughout Bob’s career as a Master Electrician, he traveled the world in service to the American people. His career of service included 20 years in the Navy Reserves with the Seabees; 33 years with the Department of State/Overseas Buildings Operations; and 20 years within the private sector electrical industry. He was very proud of being a Seabee where he achieved the rank of Senior Chief and served two years supporting the Gulf War. He was also proud to have served as a Senior Facility Manager for the International Maintenance Assistance Program at the Department of State, responsible for supporting U.S. diplomatic missions world-wide.

Bob dearly loved his family and friends, all of whom will miss him greatly. He enjoyed studying history, especially military history, collecting and restoring antiques, and walking around Lake Artemisia. Bob’s legacy of generosity will live on through his family and friends who had the great honor of experiencing life’s moments and learning from him. Everyone will miss his clever humor, a perfect quip for every occasion.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents (Robert and Inez Dorsey). He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Antonine “Lovey”, his six children Julie (Dan), Kim, Lisa, Theresa, Jeff (Sue), and Mike (Heather); several grandchildren and great grandchild; and brothers Mike (Lana) and Ray (Julie) Dorsey.

Special thanks to Dr. Muhamid Ali Khan, the Oncology and ICU Departments at the White Oak Washington Hospital and to the primary care givers who helped so much during Bob’s illness: Julie Keyser, Mike Sunseri, Sue Sunseri, Ed Halverson, and Dana and Tim Phares.
