A former resident of Washington, DC, transitioned peacefully on August 5, 2021 in Silver Spring, Md. He was born on September 17, 1936 in Washington, DC to the late James Webster and Murrile Sylvia Smallwood. Ronald was a true Washingtonian educated in the DC Public School System (DCPS). Ronald worked for DCPS, Pepco, Georgetown Hospital as a Maintenance Mechanic, and later worked part-time at the Beltsville Community Center. Ronald was initiated into M.W. Prince Hall Grand Lodge of the District of Columbia, Hiram Lodge, No. 4 and raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason on October 2nd, 1965.
Ronald was married to Carrie Vernell Smallwood and is the second oldest of seven children; Donald Smallwood (deceased), Goldie Turner, Rosalie Scott, Annette Ridley, Wayne Smallwood, Connie Brown (deceased). Raised eight children, Brenda Moseley, Linda King, Janice McKenzie, Ronald (Nick) L. Smallwood Jr., Reginald Smallwood, Marcus Smallwood, Tawana Mitchell, and Michelle Smallwood. Ronald also cherished his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, along with his cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws. His memories will always be cherished. Memorial service and viewing will be held Monday August 9th, at the Borgwardt Funeral Home in Beltsville, Maryland from 2 to 4pm.
