Sharon Anne (Ferguson) Nicholson

April 2, 1956 — August 7, 2021

Silver Spring

Sharon passed away on August 7, 2021, at her home in Silver Spring, Maryland surrounded by her family and loved ones after a long and difficult battle with liver disease. Born April 2, 1956, in Frederick, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Warren Townshend Ferguson, Sr. and Dorothy Grace (Owen) Ferguson.

Sharon graduated from Duval high school in 1974 and attended Maryland Drafting Institute, completing the architectural drafting technology course in 1980.  After completing her education, she had a successful 40-year career designing fire protection sprinkler systems for multiple companies in the Baltimore / Washington, DC area. She worked on many high-profile projects and ultimately earned her NICET (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies) certification in the design of automatic sprinkler systems.

Sharon married her best friend, Dale Nicholson in October of 1989 and had three beautiful children: Brandon, Gretchen, and Greggory.  She is survived by her husband, Dale and their children, Gretchen, and Greggory.

Sharon is also survived by her siblings; Richard Ferguson, Charleen Manzo, Charles Ferguson, Steven Ferguson, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and son, she was preceded in death by her brother, Warren T. “Skip” Ferguson, Jr.

Sharon was a kind and loving person who enjoyed dogs, family vacations, the beach, auto shows, crocheting, being with and talking to family and friends. She was taken too soon and will be missed dearly.

There will be a private family only viewing per her wishes followed by a memorial service in April 2022. Also, per her wishes, she will be cremated, and her ashes scattered at her favorite places.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made towards a bench dedicated in memory of Sharon. The bench and surrounding gardens will be located on Jekyll Island, Georgia where she and Dale loved to watch the sunset. See Link: https://gofund.me/c1a37929
