Centreville

Stan was born March 7, 1957, to Stanley Paul Holliday and Frances Ann Erwin Holliday in Cheverly, Maryland. He died on October 17, 2022, in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee at the age of 65.

Stan’s joys in life were his family, travel, cooking, remodeling, Washington football, and Disney.

Stan was raised on Garrett Avenue in Beltsville, MD where he was surrounded by the extended Holliday clan. The hub of the Holliday family was his grandmother Edna Holliday’s house on Lexington Avenue where all family birthdays and holidays were celebrated with all his cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Stan met Ilze Sprogeris in his senior year of high school at High Point in Beltsville, MD. They married on December 23rd, 1978. After moving to Laurel, Maryland, Eric Charles, and Andrew Robert joined the family. More recently, Eric and Jessica have gifted Stan with three amazing grandchildren, Kayleigh, Grant, and Bradley. Stan and Ilze have been blessed with 43 years of marriage.

Stan loved traveling and has visited most states, Europe, and the Caribbean. He loved to grill, and barbeque and could always be found searching for ways to perfect the results. His love of professional football was a lifelong passion as he held Sunday game day parties for friends and family, attended and tailgated at the Buccaneer’s home games and in Washington for the Commanders. He attended his last game on October 9 and watched the Commanders and the Titans.

Stan had a long and distinguished career in the engineering consulting business. It began after his graduation from High Point High School 1975 when he attended the Maryland Drafting Institute to prepare him for the beginning of his 40+-year career. His first job as a draftsman was with Shefferman and Bigelson Company. During his tenure there he learned about electrical engineering and moved up steadily into design and management roles. Over the years he worked for several firms including: EDG, Inc., Joseph Loring and Associates, Allen & Shariff Corporation and finally EDG2, Inc.

Stan was looking forward to retirement in a few years and planned to get a motorhome to travel the parts of the U.S. that he had not yet visited, and while at home enjoy life with his children and grandkids in the condo on the Chesapeake Bay with its beautiful sunsets.
