On Thursday, April 2, 2015 Mr. Stanley Elmer McKinley passed away in Silver Spring, Maryland¸ at the age of 88. Mr. McKinley was son of the late Elmer and Dorothy McKinley, and brother to the late Mrs. Jeanne James. For 37 years he was also the loving husband of the late Nancy M. McKinley. He is survived by two daughters, Jeanne and Dorothy, and one son, Stanley Jr., as well as four grandsons: Paul, Harrison, Calvin and Alexander. Mr. McKinley was a graduate of Dartmouth College and attended Yale Law School, transferring to and graduating from the University of Virginia School of Law with a Bachelor of Laws. He received a Master's Degree in American History from Harvard University. He was employed by the Federal Government for over 30 years, working for the Bureau of the Budget, the Federal Communications Commission, and finally the Immigration and Naturalization Service. Mr. McKinley served as Eastern Regional Commissioner of the Immigration and Naturalization Service for sixteen years, receiving the Commissioner’s Distinguished Career Award upon his retirement in 1994. A graveside service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in Shepherdstown, West Virginia commencing at 11am on Saturday, May 2, 2015. A gathering of family and friends will be held at that time, followed by a post-funeral reception at the Bavarian Inn, Shepherdstown, West Virginia.
