Starr Darline Taylor was born on Monday, July 28, 1947 to Percy Lawson Taylor and Seeines Margaret Dickson in Quebec, Canada. She was the youngest daughter in her family of four other siblings; Arcola, Juanita, Schanda, and Henry. As a teen, through her adulthood, she loved traveling from Montreal, Canada to New York City to spend time with family and friends. In doing so, she met who became her husband Mr. John West (deceased November 5, 2019). She worked her way from retail to becoming an independent small business owner, who provided employment to many in the communities she lived. Starr defied many odds, always finding a way, when it appeared there was no way while not compromising her faith. Starr was a cancer survivor. Overcoming such a challenge she appreciated and loved simple pleasures. She was resilient. In her challenges, she always offered assistance to provide her love and support to help many whenever she could which included loved ones and strangers alike. As an entrepreneur and small business owner over the years she displayed strength, creativity, and tenacity, defying all odds in many accomplishments. She loved with all her heart, and appreciated small and big wins alike genuinely for others. Starr Taylor enjoyed attending church service, spending time with her children and grandchildren, listening to music, dancing, playing bingo, and helping others. Starr Taylor, the last of her siblings, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2020. Starr is survived by her daughter Venetia West Freeny, son in-law John M. Freeny Jr, daughter Schanda Rene West, and her 6 grandchildren: Parrish Solis, Derrick “DJ” Davis Jr, Zoe Schan Davis, Immanuel Solis, Trinity Isabella Solis, Reign Sophia Solis, and several cousins, nieces, nephews, other close family members, and friends alike.
