Tina (Wong) Yee

February 1, 1937 — May 30, 2019

Born in the city of Taicheng, located in southeast China on February 1, 1937, Tina grew up in a large family with two older siblings and four younger siblings.  She spent her teenage years in the village of Sunwei.  It was there when she was introduced to a man through a mutual family friend.   His name was David Yee.

Tina Wong and David Yee were married on May 6, 1959 and they moved to the United States.  For the first eight years of their marriage, they lived in Detroit, MI when they had their daughter, Debbie.  A few years later, they moved to Southfield, MI when their son, Eugene, was born.  David and Tina were happily married close to 60 years.

Tina worked in the restaurant industry for over 30 years and eventually retired in the early 2000’s.  She was a loving and devoted mother who worked at multiple restaurants at the same time but still was always very diligent in looking out for the welfare of her family, especially her children.  Her favorite hobby was playing mahjong with her friends who lived in the area close to where she lived.  Often while playing, her partner in the game would be her husband David.   They enjoyed those times together as well as just spending time at home with the family.

Tina is survived by her two children, Debbie Chen and Eugene Yee, her son-in-law, Plato Chen, her grandchildren Joshua (& Anna), Timothy, Elisabeth, and Daniel Chen, and her siblings, Ying (& Ping Yat) Seeto, Jim (& Agatha) Wong, Margaret Wong, Mary (& Tom) Bossi, and John (& Yukling) Wong.
