Troy C. Eggleston

October 4, 1966 — February 6, 2023

Beltsville, Maryland

Troy C. Eggleston passed away on February 6, 2023, at the age of 56. He was born to Henry and Gloria Eggleston (Fondren), and raised in Flint, Michigan. He joined the United States Army in 1987 and continued serving with the Reserves. He graduated from Hampton University with a degree in Business Administration. While there, he had a successful career in track and field. He later attained his MBA from the University of Maryland.

After moving to the D.C. Metropolitan area, he met and married the love of his life, Robin Washington. From this union, three children were born, Troi Danielle, Nicholas Clayton, and Kelsey Quinn. Troy loved his family and his community. He was involved in his children’s sports activities (basketball, track and soccer) by coaching and filming. When not spending time working, Troy could be found coaching and mentoring student athletes (Team Accelerate, St. Vincent Pallotti High School, and Stevenson University) or working on one of many ‘projects’ in and outside of the house. Words cannot express enough how engaged he was with his community – from officiating track meets, preparing his student-athletes for college, guiding them through the recruitment process, to volunteering and working with the underserved communities.

Troy had an esteemed career at Legg Mason and Franklin Templeton for over 22 years in various engineering and global leadership roles. Troy led several strategic corporate initiatives such as data center relocations, cloud transformation, and corporate mergers and acquisitions. During his career, Troy led the network integration for two large scale corporate transactions, Legg Mason-Citigroup Asset Management integration and Franklin Templeton-Legg Mason acquisition. Troy was well-known and respected among his colleagues for his technical acumen and his authenticity.

Troy made impactful and lasting relationships over the course of his life. Many were fortunate to have loved and learned from him. He will be remembered and respected as a dedicated husband, father, and coach. We wish we had longer with him and will always love and miss him.

Troy is survived by his wife Robin of 26 years; children Troi, Nicholas and Kelsey; parents Henry Eggleston (Tammie) and Gloria Fondren; sisters and brothers Sonya Porch (Clarence) and Brandon Eggleston (LeAnn), Elvage “JR” Fondren, Eric Fondren (Danielle), Ebony Fondren-Duncan (Paul), and Eman Fondren (Rebecca); Aunts Gail Cullors (Jerome), Barbara Ishmael (Bill), and Ann Jones; Uncles Ernest Eggleston, Rock Davis (Sabrina) and Barry Rush (Jackie); a host of family members (sisters and brothers in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins), friends and colleagues who loved him dearly.
